ABE JENKINS JR.

Abe Jenkins, Jr., is the eldest son of Georgetta and Abraham B. Jenkins and one of 27 grandchildren of the late Janie and Esau Jenkins. Although both of his parents are native Johns Islanders, Abe was born in Cambridge, England and traveled the world during his youth because his father was in the Air Force. He graduated from Summerville High School in South Carolina, received his undergraduate degree from South Carolina State University and received a Master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Pennsylvania. Jenkins has over 25 years experience in healthcare administration and has been actively involved in political and community service for the past 15, most notably working and/or advising in three Presidential campaigns and serving as the Political Director for the South Carolina Democratic Party for two years. Jenkins remains active in his church and community and has recently been nominated to serve as the Chair of the Progressive Club of Johns Island with a vision to reimagine the purpose and direction of the organization to meet the needs of the disadvantaged and underserved citizens of Johns Island and the surrounding communities.
